- What are your thoughts to the comment in the movie regarding the computer industry and interest in computers, "....this is a guy thing..."
- Do you think the comment had to do with the movie being made in 1996? or more with the time that Gates, Allen, Jobs, Woz, etc where dabbling with computers in their garages?
- Are there currently any women that are major players in the computer/technology industry? (You may need to do a little research to find the answer to this one.)

I think before it might have been a guy thing, but it has definitly turned into everyone's thing. Everyone is interested in computers now. I think the comment was made seeing that it was mostly guys who worked on improving the computers. There weren't that many women in the computer industry. However I found Missile Command as a woman in the computer industry.

I beleive that most computer geeks are men. Women have a diverse range of activities, and these computer nerds, such as bill gates did not have anything elce to do with their time

I think that it was a thing that guys wanted to do something that wanted to be fun and not do a lot of work

I agree with Andrea it used to be a guy thing and now everyone is using computers. In the olden days women werent intrested in computers only the men were because they wanted to work on them and make them better or they just wanted one to play with.

i dont think that it was completly a guy thing but more guys were interested in computers back then than women.

it's just like cars, both girls and guys are into it but the guys are just over the top about it, and these guys ended up with a good idea and well....good for them , they made money doing what they love, but girls (just like in the movie) did have some good ideas.

I do agree with Andrea because it started out that guys were the ones interested in the computers, but now women use computers to do different tasks.

When this movie came out, I think that not many women worked in the technological industry which is why it may have been more of a guy thing. Women were just starting to work in the computer world.

it's not based on gender, but more on interest. It would probably interest a guy more then it would most women(not all but most)

I don't think that its necessarily a guy thing, as women can be just as interested in computers as men. I think that men have just been established in the technology field for a long time and people sometimes view technology as a "guy thing".

I agree, i mean technology is evolving and its important to make everyone involved. Maybe in the past wemon havent been responisible for mjor technological advancements, but they should be/ will be now.

Georgie, you're so right. Hopefully now that weman are more involved in jobs using technology and the world is becoming totally used to relying on technology. We can be responisble for major technological advancements

I agree with Georgie and Mark. It used to be a guy thing. I don think it is anymore

i agree with you both (jackie and georgie) more and more wemon (as spelled above) are getting more involved in technology today and are responsible for many technological advances today.

I believe that despite women getting more involved with computers that It was always be known as a "guy thing".

I agree with Andrea in regards to the computers. I happen to know a lot of people who are intested in computers that are men and women.
Posted by: Alex | August 31, 2006 at 01:44 PM
I also agree with Andrea. I think that in the beginning it was mainly men who were interested in computer technology but it has evolved into both men and women being interested in it.

it really isnt based on gender,im pretty sure that most women have an interest in the computer than most men
Posted by: Danilo | August 31, 2006 at 02:36 PM
although boys are more into technology, it should fit both genders. any1 can be into technology. so this means i agree with andrea...

I agree, woman might be just as interested as men its just that it happened to be guys that invented these computers.
Posted by: Andrew Schenkel | August 31, 2006 at 02:38 PM
I think that computers are definatly a guys thing. Im glad that they have something else to occupy their time besides bothering girls
Posted by: Jeanne | August 31, 2006 at 02:39 PM
I would have to agree with Meg. Both guys and girls are into it, but sometimes guys are just more dominant in a certain area. This is probably because guys were often the innovators...guys started the whole computer thing, just like they started cars, so its probably just more natural for men to catch on more and then women to gradually join in.

Yeah, now it is definitely a mixed gender association. Everyone can now participate in the advance of the computer technology industries.
