I thought this article was really interesting. The writer not only talked about the bad things the erupted this year but also the good things tht came about this year. I love how she talks about how everyone has way to much free time and instead of watching a TV show, they will try and make a video on something totally random. One thig that she also said was that she really likes how the internet is set up now. Through myspace and facebook, you can talk to people out of the country or across the country.

I think that this article was very interesting to read. I liked how the author of the article recognized that the world wide web makes all the things we do on the internet like myspace, facebook, e-mail, ect possible. I also like how the author thinks that we are rady for the Web 2.0. I thought it was funny when she talked about how people go home and go on the internet and make movies about their pets instead of watching there favorite t.v show.

I think this article is very true. Most people do get very curious about what's going on with other people, and not only what the news tells us, because, let's face it, they can bend things so easily, especially when we have no other way of knowing the truth. YouTube is one way of knowing what people's lives are really like because most of them are doing it for fun, and their stories and backgrounds that you see behind them are so realistic and the ones that are fake are obvious, so the truth is much more plain. Plus, you get a much better feeling of who some people really are because, for some reason, the truth always seems to get out on the internet.

I like this article because it allows the people of the US (the average Joes)to be proud of the time that they spend on their computers and watching and making videos on them to bring either humor to other people around the globe or to give out important messages. i think that it is better to notice the averge citizen like this instead of those celeberties that only show their anger towards others because they didnt get the right amount of eyeshadow on...

I felt this was a good article because of the fact that they talked about both aspects. He starts with saying that we have basically created a whole new web "Web 2.0" with all of the things like myspace, Wikipedia, and YouTube. These let everyone take part in the internet an dget out things like videos they have and ideas they want to share to everyone else. A;so at the same time some of the things people are putting out like movies about pet iguanas no one is going to watch, so it can also just be a time for us to just ways to waste our time and put up senseless things.

I think it's good that it is becoming easier to share thoughts online, but a lot of the content isn't really worth seeing. A home video might be nice to have, but why bother sharing it online?

The article is as much factual as it is interesting. facebook, myspace, and you Tube have become very popular. It seems to be another way of communication , but on a new level, because unlike the internet in it's previous year, now you can ssee what people do , and how they live on live feeds. Everything is being done online/ on a computer. Music, business, shopping etc.

The article is very interesting, however it's also very sad. The journalist talks about how we have spent much of our year "working hard" making Facebook profiles and setting up accounts. We work hard browsing the internet on YouTube for fun things that people in our countries or simply in the US are doing in their spare time. Obviously they aren't sitting at home viewing YouTube. In addition, the journalist talks about the Web becoming a new social environment, no longer becoming a solitary activity. I think the article is sad, describing the increasing use of the internet.

The facts behind this article are all very true. The reality is, is that this past year was a wild year like Lev Grossman said. Out of all the up and downs of this year one thing has been constant, our societys ways of evolving in technology. Every year we come up with new things and in the past couple years technology has boomed. Thats why i agree with Grossman when he says "it's just getting started."

I enjoyed reading this article. It was very interesting. The author of this article is hilarious. She believes that people rather video tape their pet iguana and put it on youtube rather than watch a real tv show. Ia gree with the author, people do use the internet way too much. Fixing thier myspace page or requesting friends on facebook. It is kind of sad what we have come too. People spending hours upon hours of their day just sitting on the internet.

I think the writer of this article may have many children. I belive this because he knows many of the things that teenagers do today. Yet he has also dwelled on real life issues such as the war. I agree with him on alot of things such as people using blogs for everything. In my opinion I think that soon these blogs will be video to video feedback so that the poster and interact with their viewers..that is if they have any. It will be interesting to see what new things come in the future.

I like this article, i love it. The internet has never been easier to use and we can entertain ourselves now.

I really liked this article. It was very interesting. I also think it is appropriate that we were named person of the year. With the choas in the country and the war in Iraq it is nice that we can go to myspcae, etc. and have some fun. It is very true some people have become addicted to blogs. Even so that they ignore their favorite TV shows. It is funny because I have found myself doing this also. However, it is also very sad becuase people rather go on facebook or whatever. It questions if these things will pull us away from our families also. It is also very true that the Web has become the new way everyone conversates instead of picking up a phone. As long as technology continues developing, people will become more social on the internet than in the real world!

I really enjoyed the Times article. It gave us a glimpse into the life of everyday people. Everyone our age has a Facebook or a Myspace, or they go onto Youtube.com and watch funny videos. The article shows how people have created a giant community through these common sites. The thing i liked most about the article was that it gave credit for this phenomenon to the ordinary everyday people who get on the internet and create the online community. The article gives credit to the people who deserve it. The people who use the internet. Not the people who run big computer companies and create the technology people use

I enjoy this article because it really makes me realize how much time people spend making videos online. The other night I was watching movies about dancing fruit. Now 10 years ago people would never waist the time to create a video about dancing bananas, but now! We have the Christian bananas, the orange and apple on blues clues and many others. People waist there time on creating these fictional characters, and I think this article explained a little bit about how times have changed.

It is really intresting to know how many people go on youtube and myspace. Having websites like that can really make people more awaire of problems in the world. I think it makes the world safer, and it's a very good thing. First of all if something goes wrong the message can get around much faster. Then if we had had this durring WW2 and somehow someone had gotten up a video of what they were doing to the people in the CC's then they could have been helped faster. The people have so much more power now that they can get their own thoughts out to the world. It's the new newspaper!

This article made me realize that some people have a lot of time on there hands, but it is for our entertainment so i don't care. It shows how things can change very quickly, for instance 5-6 years ago nobody new want youtube or myspace was, and now its hard not to know what these are if you use the internet.

The artle stated that we were the people of the yeah, and was true. We revolutionized the way of the internet through Myspace, Facebook and YouTube. The article stated that "together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter." If it wasnt for the fact that millions of people working to put videos etc. this would not be a great contribution. So inconclusion the internet will forever have a shadow casted in it

This article showed me that basiclly anyone could think of something that could be the next big thing on the internet such as google, youtube, myspace, and facebook. On these there are many usefull but some strange things that people put up to show everyone on the internet. Also the information and/or factual part of these site are not always accurate because there are many ways it can be tamperd with. More things like these are appearing on the internet by the day and are at a steady increase in advertisments seen for things such as these.

i liked the article because it talks about recent new online sites that everyone likes. and it is also giving credit to you tube being the most watched online place of the year. and i also like it because there is more entertianment online that you can visit

This article shows how many Americans have become tech savvy throughout these recent years. We are more wirelessly connected than ever before. We are more informed about what's going on in the world through news feeds, etc. I think this is only the beginning of the start of even more technological advancements.

I think that TIME was right in choosing "you" as person of the year. Websites, such as YouTube, are becoming huge and many people from all over are connected through them. People from all over put hours and hours into these types of things, and now people are starting to notice. People are starting to get bored with news and TV and are beginning to get curious about what is out on the Web.
Posted by: Emily Johnson | January 11, 2007 at 02:20 PM
I thought it was very clever how Time picked the Person of the Year to be "you." The internet has turned from a resource of so much information that people used, to a resource that they use to find out about other people. The computer is probably more used for social purposes than other purposes in this age of technology. You can see who is interested in you by Facebook and MySpace, and you can meet people you would have never spoken to otherwise. Youtube provides a universal form of entertainment where people can laugh and have fun with at people that they don’t even know. This year was definitely a huge year of technological advances in the computer area.

It was a good article, talking about the "new" internet and how it is good and bad. Its also a true article actually talking about what happens on the web. To find out the things about youtube and myspace they actually wen there. I also like how they go onto the web just to show others what it is like.

I enjoyed reading this article. I dont know any of my friends that dont have a myspace or facebook. Theyre a great thing to have for communication and meeting new people. I know that people make up rediculous videos but theyre funny and the people have fun doing it so who cares. This article is pointing out that we didnt have all of this 7 years ago. Now there is so much more advancement and its definitely for the better!
