Today in wired news, they give a preview of new gadgets and pictures of them. My favorite gadget is the Wacom Cintiq 21UX PC Input Device and the OSIM uSurf Wave-Action Exerciser. These wave exerciser is a mchine you stand on and it acts lke your surfing a wave. I think theses new gadgets are the top of the line and future of technology.

Scientists are currently working on a new technology to assist the visually impaired. The technology is called System for Wearable Audio Navigation (SWAN). It consists of a laptop contained in a backpack, censors, and a GPS. The censors can tell the person when they are about to come across a boundary or obstacle. After the laptop processes the information, headphones give audio cues telling the person where to turn. The laptop also has maps saved in it. The laptop talks to the GPS system and safely navigates the visually impaired person through an area. This technology is also being used by the military helping soldiers to find their way in unknown areas. They are still working on the technology and they are even refining it to work indoors in addition to outdoors.

Many residents living near military bases have recently reported that their garage door openers are dieing. Approximately 50 million in this past year have been destroyed because of interfering magnetic waves from military bases. Apparently this isn’t the first time problems of this have happened and it will not be the last due to increasing expansion of military bases.

the article i read was about google opening its first facility in southeast Asia. It is opening in the country of Singapore. According to the 'The Straits Times,' Google's Southeast Asia managing director of sales and operations said that the picked Singapore because of its very vibrant info-communications and technology environment. In Southeast Asia, Singapore is considered to be the region's top financial and technology hub with a per capita GDP that compares to leading Western European nations.

In an article that came out today in Wired, there is discussion about how Google's success is really an eye-opener for Microsoft. In order to keep up with Google, Microsoft wants to bring out its own internet-based programs. So far, Microsoft has not been very successful in bringing out programs running over the internet instead of from a PC. Google, on the other hand, is providing web-based programs that are similar to those of Microsoft Office. Microsoft realizes that it is behind, but will not copy from another model. And while Microsoft is still a strong company, they are behind both Google and Yahoo in the search aspect.

A division of CBS is hoping to intesify the madness of March Madness that is coming up by letting people make and share video clips to taunt fans of the opposing team. The theme of the campaign is called "Are you fan enough?," which will appear on CSTV during March Madness. They say that america is experiencing a rise in “a video filmmaker culture.”The basketball video clips will be screened for language and appropriateness before going online but the goal will be to preserve their reality and spontaneity.

A new technology by HP was announced, QuickPlay. This new technology will allow you to watch movies, listen to music, and view pictures without turning on your notebook. According to HP, this feature will allow users to double their move-watching time and also double their music listening time. This is not increasing your battery life but preserving it. I think this is a good feature because you are not using up your battery while watching movies and listening to music. Doing these things takes up a lot of the battery life but with this new feature users will not have to worry about that.

The article I read about had to do with Microsoft buying information for a search engine. Especially for delivering medical info. They are buying different parts of many companies to help apply artificial intelligence techniques to the government and medical journals. Microsoft is trying to build this buisness on the Internet to make it more popular and help more consumers. "Microsoft's technology has grown more and more with each passing year," said one consumer.

According to Wired, the Recording industry association of America (RIAA) is fighting leglislation which would provide an exception to the digital millenium copyright act, which is widely criticised for it's broad restrictions on use of digital media, for fair (non-commercial) use of copyrighted works.

I think that the new technology device made by Hp called Quickplay is a great item to have. It enables people to watch movies, view pictures, and even listen to music. It will enable people to double their the time that they are able to watch movies as well as listen to music. This is a great device for college students who may just want to watch a movie on their computers or listen to music while working on other things. Quickplay does not increase your battery life but it does preserve it and this is very good for car rides as well as places that do not have a place for you to charge your battery.

In this article high school students assualted a 17-year old girl and posted it on youtube. This happen in Australia and after discovering this all government schools blocked youtube. They blocked youtube because they do not want others seeing violent and inappropiate things in schools. I feel like they made a right decision blocking youtube from the schools becasue they slow down the learning experience. Any one who posts a video on the internet assualting someone should be punished.

I recently read an article on news gator about the decline in revenues in the Dell corporation. Dell said net income fell by a third, to $673 million, or 30 cents a share, in its fourth quarter from $1.01 billion, or 43 cents a share, a year earlier.
This dramatic drop was uncommon in this large comany seeing as how they are one of the top sellers in desktops and notebooks. In contrast to Dell’s troubles, Hewlett-Packard reported last week that revenue from personal computers increased 17 percent in the quarter, which included the holiday selling season. Hewlett said its operating profit margins on personal computers, including laptops, increased to 4.7 percent. This may prove that Dell just might be falling of the map...

i read about how companys are sweing search engines because they wont run there adds. They think that becuase millions of people can see the search engine they are required to run every add. I agree with the judge who is not allowing people to sew the search engines because it is not mandatory that they run everything and it is there choice wat they run.

I read an article about many different stories on cellphones worldwide. The stories are just short and approximately two sentences. The one that caught my eye though was a rumor going around in the cellphone world that Sony Ericsson is working on a Playstation phone. I thought this is a very interesting and unique idea. I think that if Sony Ericsson follows through with this idea that they will make a lot of profits because there are a lot of gamers out there in our world today and this would be just one more way for them to access their exciting games.

A company NTT-Neomeit has introduced their plans for a convenient and inexpensive service that will alllow thier users to remote control home devices directly from their cellphones. This service is scheduled to start in September. The service will be compatible with most home appliances so there is no need to purchase new ones. Easy to install remote control switches connected to power oulets allows users to turn off or on things such as lamps, stereos, and controls room temperature. Users will also be able to see operating status of their devices how they have been used. THis service will cost 500 yen($4) a month, only availabe in Japan. I think this is a good piece of technology because it can help save energy such as when prople forget to turn off the lights and can also prevent any fires if they accidently forgot to turn off the stove.

The article I read was about the positives and negatives of the Playstation 3. I think the main problem with the PS3 is the price. It is very overpriced. Also They are depndent on blu ray disk technology and there is not a lot of blu disk technology out. But all in all i really liek the PS3 and recomenned eveyroen to use it.
