There is a new robot out in the technology world. This is the first robot that can deal with opsticals, such as stairs, doors, uneven pavement, rocks ext. They have air joints to they can move more human like and in a fluid movement. Shock absorbers deal with those times when it is pushed over. It is truly the newest and greatest robot built by man. Soon, they will be able to out dew humans.

This situation is part of a new virtual reality system developed by researchers to help soldiers who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) brought on by their service in the Iraq war. The goal of the system is to gradually expose the returning soldiers by wearing the system's goggles and head phones to the sights, sounds and smells that traumatized them in Iraq. The exposure should help ease the PTSD symptoms. Six soldiers have been treated on it. One of the treated soldiers has returned to Iraq, and a second will soon go back. To help make the experience more real, the platform where the soldier sits can vibrate during a humvee ride and provide the smell of human sweat, gunpowder or burning rubber. So basically its a video game but it is very very realistic so people can recover.

Security cameras will soon be able to do more than just record images and videos. These new cameras are expected to detect what is actually going on in its view. For example, if there is a gunshot or some sort of emergency, the police will be contacted. Another example of what it may be able to do is recognize the faces of those who have been accused of crimes in the past.

Ipod has come out with a new speeker system for your house. What makes this so special is that they are wireless. You plug your ipod into a base and then place the other speaker (s) anywhere and, *boom*, music!
They are rather inexpensive and will be avaiable this month. They seem really cool.

I read an article about the Institute for Creative Technologies and U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research combining their knowledge to create a "virtual Iraq." They have developed a series of scenarios that soldiers in Iraq would see. The program is to help soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) because of their service in Iraq. When they return home, many soldiers suffer PTSD and this virtual reality system helps them get over it. It uses a humvee that can vibrate and shake, a helmet which the soldier puts on to see the scenario, sound effects, and smells that would remind the soldier of Iraq. This systme has been tested on 6 soldiers, and 4 have seen tremendous improvements, 2 even going to return to Iraq. This is a great way to use technology to improve and help people's lives. http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9011991&source=rss_news10

http://scobleizer.com/2007/02/25/silicon-valley-high-tech-school-to-close-before-its-started/

In this article i read that a High Tech Highschool in Silicon Valley will be closing, only 2 years after it was orginally opened. Parents are angered at the fact that they said the school was going to last at least 5 years and it couldn't be closed down. The school is closing because they didn't get enough enrollment, which parents aren't suprised because it has only been opened for 1.5 years. This High Tech school is not a private school and it is completely free.

Rinbot and Delbot are viruses that can destroy or hijack network systems or worldwide servers. The virus is made to corrupt security programs in anti-virus software. This could potentally break down any system, or systems in a given area. The older you computer, the more of a chance that it will destroy your computer. Windows 95,98, or 2000 are the most voneralble. It is desighned also to look at weak spots in your computer like password and manipulate them. when the virus is in a set of computers it makes the network become a "zombie" or freezing the network to slow it down drasticly. The hackers behind this can put it in your computer and threaten you with pesonal information and jacking into websistes.

RINBOT or DELBOT are vireses that were made to disrupt websites and personal infromation. They are a stream of virises that come into a network that will make it slower and makes it freeze. It exploit security vulnerabilities embedded in anti-virus software. It will cause a entire network to crash and not be able to be set up again. The older your compputer the more of a chance you will have to get this virus to crash your network. Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98 are some of the most vonerable computers. The virus quickly spreads and takes over your, or a network fo computers. This turns the network into a zombie network. The hackers behind this plan will use your personal websites and/or email and black mail you for info or monay. There has been no stop to them.

Research professors have developed a virtual reality system that helps soldiers who are fighting in Iraq. This system helps those soldiers who are dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. They put goggles on in order to see similar sights that they may have seen during their time of service, and headphones to remember the sounds that came out of their experience. It is based on a video game called Full Spectrum Warrior- created by the Army. Researches added special effects, even including smell, and added scenarios that they would have been in to almost “replay” their times in Iraq. I think that this system is very cool because by these advancements in technology, soldiers are being helped with PTSD.

This blog talks about the pros and cons of the new "gmail" email server. Gmail allows you to do many more things than just email such as searching and tagging emails and websites, manage a calendar, and even blog. You can also get real time news updates everyday. When you get the google toolbar when you sign up for gmail you can even send information from the web directly into a message with just a single click.

a new technology artical i read was about this new robot that can basically function as a human. but does not have the capability to think as one. it can walk up and down stairs, do orders for you and is basically everyones dream. hopefully they will train it to clean your room and do other chores that humans in the future will not have to do.

the article talks about a new desktop that is on the market
which is both xp and vista compatilbe however it is supposed to have a hd dvd drive but when you use it you have to search for the hd dvd drive. i think that this new desktop may look great but has flaws it costs too much, does
not have the HD DVD drive in the local apps and the performance of the computer is average even though it is supposed to be about 8 out 10 on a scale of 1-10 10 being the best. my advice to those that enjoy
buying new computers watch for what the computer has before you buy it.

Google's new annual report is far from boring. Now known as the 10k cliff notes, its 101 pages are far from boring. It talks about how many people work there, how much money they have, the revenues of AOL, and how much they may make from ads on myspace and other sites. The pages talk of all the ne things that google will begin to introduce. This article, even though 101 pages, is very important and teaches of all the neew things google will introduce. But with this it also talks of something bad. As in the word of the author, "Microsoft hates us and to retaliate they may make it impossible for any of our software to index or even read Microsoft Office documents. As a result we would be screwed."

just two years ago in Rwanda cellphones began to be used to help with following disease outbreaks. the cellphones are helping these countries with such problems immensely. doctors are now able to recieve messages in just a few minutes when it used to take at least a month to receive one. by that time the disease could move or become worse and the drugs would not have much of an affect. they use cellphones sort of like a mini computer to hold this information and to send it to other clincis around the woorld. it makes it easier to follow up on individual patients.

This is article is about how China is not allowing more Internet cafes to open in the country. Their overall purpose is to prevent porn or "subversive" material from being seen. The government is trying to regulate what people see on the internet. I think that the general purpose is good but this will affect students who don't have computers at home. More and more, students need the internet for school assignments.

In this article there is an explanation of of a new product to come. Apple anounced that they will present a new product to the market called the iPhone. It will revolutionize America with the combination of phone/mp3 player/web browser all in one. The product is now being ordered via Apple and online stores. They will be shipped out and ready by June 2007. The iPhone will only be available through Cingular which is the only disadvantage known to non-Cingular users. We will have to wait until June to know how it really works.

I thought this article was very helpful becuase video skipping is such a common problem if you watch videos on YouTube etc. The picture is all broken up and the sound can become distorted. Tnis article tells you a few helpful steps to prevent this from happening. When you first open a video you should immediately hit the pause button until the red bar has completely loaded. Then the video is ready to be watched, hit play and enjoy a skip free video.

Myspace paid to get photobucket for $250 million in cash. Photobucket has become very popular with users because it provides free, online storage tools for various forms of multimedia self-expression, including photos, videos and digital slideshows. More people will use myspace now because you can have a lot of photos added and all sorts of other things to make your page lookbetter.
