My article was a study that was done on people who use the wireless network to do their work, etc. The study found "that the number of internet users with wireless at home nearly doubled, from one out of 10 in January 2005 to one in 5 by December 2006." It was proven that those who have services such as FIOS check their email daily. This is very significant because people usually check it weekly or about three times a week. It was also proven that most wireless networks are on laptops at home than at other places. Most importantly it was said that most of the wireless connectivity was used by people younger than 30, proving again that people use the internet too much.

Technology is used by all and important to people all over the world. This is why the European commision wants to fine Microsoft in an antitrust and ureasonable prices case. This is because Microsoft failed to give information to other makers of small-business servers needed to compete with Microsoft's own products. Later on though they rejected 1,500 pages of information provided by Microsoft. The site was http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,2099522,00.asp?kc=EWRSS03119TX1K0000594

On February 12, 2007 Apple and Lionsgate Movies signed a contract. This contract allows iTunes to have Lionsgate movies to be downloaded. As of now, customers can purchase movies such as Terminator 2, LA Story, Blair Witch Project, and Dirty Dancing. With this contract Liongate Flims will now bring back old movies that are not on DVD or VHS resale any longer. I think this is good for customers but will need a iPod with enough MBs or GB's. These movies can $9.99 and have resolution of 640x480.

The article I chose was one that depicted exactly what happens here at GC. An Australian school blocked Youtube in order to try and halt cyber-bullying. The article goes on to say that administrators are doing this to make themselves feel better. That as long as they cant see it then its not happening. The article also makes the point that when teachers block sites solely by name, or has a specific word in it, runs the risk of blocking valuable information that could be used by the students. I know in some classes teachers have used Youtube to show us learning videos on topics of the class. This proves that\t while some sites may be used for “fun” they can also be used for educational purposes.

Technology is becoming a bigger part of our lives each and every day. Today, playing video games supposedly can help surgeons with operating, because there is a strong relationship between video game skills and a surgeon's capabilities for performing laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopy involves manipulating instruments through a body opening where the movements are guided by watching a television screen. This article is very interesting. I never thought that playing video games could help you with practicing surgery.

The article i read is "Milestone for giant physics lab." it talks about the construction of a giant underground lab on the French-Swiss border that will help take physics into a "new era". A 2,000-ton piece of machine was lowered by crane into a man-made cavern. This lab is 100m below ground. This machine is very powerful and complicated. It is said to be able to smash particles together at super-fast speeds, in a bid to unlock the secrets of the Universe. I found this article very interesting because i would have never thought a lab 100m underground could have a 2,000 ton peice of machinery put into it. Hopefully this will help advance the knowledge of the secrets of the universe.

There are many different advances in technology. One advance is the Motorola SLVR L7c, a new model of the Motorola cell phone for Sprint. This new phone is small and can fit anywhere , which is good for transporting. There are many new features of this phone, such as a 1.9 inch, LCD screen, a camera and Bluetooth technology. It will eventually have music playing ablities, such as an MP3/AAC player and Sprint TV video streaming with good sound for a phone. With all of these new features, it has a great price.

It has been questioned for many years if Google should be considered a media company. A federal judge ruled last Monday that Google has/ had the right to refuse to post any ads. Google will be given the same right as industry newspapers have had since 1974. The judge dismissed a law suit on google, yahoo, and microsoft for not publishing ads. The man who wanted the ads posted complained that they were infringing upon his rights of free speach. In reality the companies have the right to refuse to post any ads they don't want to. I think that the websites right to reject ads is a good idea because its for the best interest of the people who use their websites. If they allowed anyone who wanted ads posted to post them, than all these websites would be over taken and computers users would be upset with the amount of ads. http://www.forbes.com/businesstech/2007/02/27/google-newspapers-lawsuit-tech-media-cx_rr_0227google.html?partner=rss

There is a new trend for new authors that are having difficulty finding a publisher to get their works out into the public, the computer. A website founded in late 2005, Podiobooks.com, is a place where authors can send their books to by using their computer and people can view them. The books are put on the site by recording them in your house and using a sound mixer and transfering it onto your computer. On the site you can find tips on how to record your writings to the website.Through this application of technology, new writers who are having trouble getting publishers to look at their work, can easily display their work for others and even catch the eye of some publishers.

This article is about a officer lying on his job aplication and was not legally an officer. The attorney wants to call apon a police dog into court because he believes that both the dog and the officer went to the same online school. McGuire is to go to court in Martch for tampering with files and records. I thought of choosing this article becuase the title seemed very different than any of the other articles there. The funniest thing to me is that many people are saying that they don't think that it is unnecisary for them to bring the actual dog into court, which sounds pretty funny to me.

My article was about the new Samsung phone that Helio has recently added to its lineup. This new phone is called Helio Heat.It is a thin slider phone touchpad, a 2 inch screen display, Bluetooth, and built in GPS. Like the phones that Helio has offered previously, the Heat has MP3 and video capacity and also allows users to go on Google Maps. It also offers a Buddy Beacon to help you find out where your friends are. Helio is adding new online sites into its network. These sites include Boing Boing, Wikipedia, Metroblogging, and Digg. All Helio users will have access to these sites via their cell phone. The Heat phone will be available in black and soon gold. This phone also has a 1.3 megapixel camera and speaker phone. The company wants to attract a young audience by making the phones as hip and up to date on technology as possible. The phone is now available through Helio for $150. http://news.digitaltrends.com/article12379.html

According to Wired, the Recording industry association of America (RIAA) is fighting leglislation which would provide an exception to the digital millenium copyright act, which is widely criticised for it's broad restrictions on use of digital media, for fair (non-commercial) use of copyrighted works.

HP came out with a new Pavilion Media Center m7780n TV PC. It comes with Window's Vista as its operating system. Its most prominent feature is its HD DVD playing ability. It has no new hardware from its previous model. It will catch up to its older model with improving driver software. This Vista version is all-around not as good as the XP version of the computer evidented mainly by the decreased processing power.

This article is mainly about how the Wii is done with the new Legend of Zelda game. It goes on to talk about how they are finished with the NES version. Then the article says that if you do not want to only play Zelda games or sports games, then they should probaly get the game called, Excitetruck. In this game there are many different kinds of trucks and you can go into an "excite" mode during the game, and there are different levels of difficulty, going from bronze to diamond.

This article is explaining how Toyota is trying to make plans to create a plug-in hybrid vehicle. They are joining other companies in battery development to try and make their hybrid able to plug in for electricity. They are also trying to create the next generation battery which could be used by cars. Toyota is already the top seller in hybrid vehicles. They are open to any alliances on battery developments. As of right now they are working on consumer research and product development.

This article talks about a robot being designed in a California laboratory named Dexter. The aim is to design a robot that can adapt to several environments and roles, like a human does, rather than requiring specific programming. The robot will develop similarly to a child. Currently, Dexter is teaching himself how to walk around the lab, and he is expected to be able to run within the next few months. He can even learn from his own mistakes. Scientists that Dexter will follow in the footsteps of the famous Japanese robot named Asimo.

This artical is about the video game called "Harvest Moon". The creator of this game created it becuase he thought that it would be a good idea that they should make a game about doing chores and farm work. But because all of the characters and many other things about this game it is believed that it was made only for little kids even though many adults enjoy playing this farming game.

Amazon.com is now going to compete with Apple in in the digital music marketplace. Amazon.com will be opening an online musci store next month and are already negotiating with major recored labels. Given the lack of success other ventures have had against iTunes, Amazon will offer no digital rights management software. I think this is a good idea on Amazon.com's part. This gives people other places to download their music legally. With this new program people will recieve their music and not get sued like they could from other online music programs.

In my article it was argued that people tend to not open up to new MP3 players. The ipod has become a worldwide phenomenon; however, it is argued if it is really the best product out there. People do not want to spend their time uploading songs. It would be much easier if they could just push a button saying "I love it" or "I ban it." Now with the new SLACKER people can do that! The only thing left is for the people to decide if they will let a new MP3 come into perspective.

In the article that i read on newsgator, they were talking about how high tech the pritners are getting now a days. During the past week, Xerox had developed a a kind of software that can take plain color speech into computerese. The software will let you type in "make the grass a little greener" and a bunch of random numbers will appear that will automatically make the grass a darker green. The people who work with Xerox are really impressed with the improvement with color printers in the past and are excited to see what is in store or the future. Another thing that Xerox will plan to do in the future is that they want to make a preview display of what is going to be printed to show how the colors differ from the monitor. I think that the color printer will help exspecially in schools with projects that focus on particular colors. This will also help out with certain type of buisnesses. it will make it a easier process for people to select what kind of color they want instead of only having to select certain colors from the color box.
